city (fountain) of lights (youth)
the thermals - the body, the blood, the machine
LISTEN/here's your future
LISTEN/pillar of salt
i've been dreaming of paris lately, though i've never even been. i think it may have to do with all the french films i've seen recently. most filmed in paris, showcasing the city as not just a setting but a character as important as the rest. i dream of living in a modest, but charming apartment on a winding cobbled road. there's the butcher i get my dinner from every nite just down the way, and the bakery where i get my fresh bread and pastries. i spend my days in the cafes and nites at the clubs. staying up all nite with liquor and cigarettes, ruminating over the meanings of life and love. like a godard film, which brings this notion to its most romantic ends. but those films were as much about the spirit and whimsy of youth as about paris itself. maybe this is what i'm searching for. i know i'm not an old man yet, but i am worried that i'm getting there. (*sigh)
well, for now i have the thermals to make me feel like a kid again. like it's 1994, i'm ditching third period and i've got this blasting in my '89 nissan sentra, the car rattling and my blood rushing.
